inspiration: summertime ☀

I love summer. Although I can't choose a favourite season because my love for fall is strong as well, whenever this season rolls around again I get butterflies in my stomach. I just want to live in a bathing suit and hit the beach with a cold drink and some SPF 15. These pictures make me super excited for the upcoming months and I just had to share my excitement!

inspiration: madewell fall 2012

I'm in love. Well, not in the traditional sense. I'm in love with the Madewell Fall 2012 Lookbook. I honestly would wear 99% of their pieces and am thoroughly inspired by the amount of gorgeous berries, greens, and navy colours in this collection. Now if only I could fund this relationship...

holland food diary

Best. Food. Ever.
I am obsessed with Dutch food. I may be a little biased though since I've grown up with it, but still everything that we ate was amazing! From stroop waffles to raisin buns with Gouda there was a lot of stuffing our bellies!

inspiration: white & wood

source: design sponge

Today I am inspired by the clean white and blue walls of this house. I love the old books and aged chairs, as well as the owners fabulously full inspiration board (top right). The use of white on white here in addition to the light coming in through the multiple windows makes this home a refreshing sight.

inspiration: children's story posters

There's really few things on the web better than finding amazing graphic design that makes you think to understand what's actually going on. These posters by Christian Jackson of Square Inch Design are simple, yet they perfectly capture the essence of each tale.

inspiration: dominique falla

Dominique Falla is a "tactile typographer" that creates intricate wall art using just thread and nails. This would be a great DIY but is probably MUCH more difficult than it looks! Maybe it would be fun to try with tacks on a corkboard? You can see more of Dominique's work on her blog.

all images are our own

It's time to get back to reality - job hunting, spring cleaning, and soon summer days! But first an update on the most amazing trip I've ever had. I am still in awe of how beautiful Holland is, and super sad that I had to leave. I will definitely be going back as soon as I can! My family and I had so many wonderful experiences and we did A LOT while we were there: visits with family from my Grandma's, Pake's, Oma's and Opa's side, exploring the streets of Amsterdam, a tour through the canals, and some shopping, delicious dinners/ lunches/ desserts (raisin buns with Gouda, sugar bread, drojpes, croquettes, pancakes with stroop, koffie verkeerd and much more...), touring the royal palace, visiting the Arnhem WWII cemetery, viewing the beautiful tulips at Keukenhof and that's just the start.

for bloggers: blogshop toronto

BLOGSHOP is a Photoshop bootcamp for bloggers. "It is a full weekend spent stuffing your brain full of things to make your images on your blog unique and eye catching". I've been keeping up with the happenings of the ladies that run Blogshop and think that it is perfect for people that aren't confident in photoshop and want a really awesome experience with like-minded people!

"People who have no experience with Photoshop will leave the course with confidence to create layout, prep images for mood boards and collages, retouch skin and color correct images, animate gifs, add textures, borders, type and drawing to their images to make each of their blog posts or other visual materials special. At the end of the first day we will have a portrait session, so on the second day you can work on your own pictures which will be perfect for contributor photos and bio pages."

temporary tattoo's for creatives

I need them. I want them. I must have them.

Seriously though, how cool are these design-friendly temporary tats from Tattly? The CMYK one (bottom right) and the aperture tattoo (top left) are especially adorable. Also, they are super cheap, as most are $5 for a set of two!

make the most out of your university summer vacation

This exam season has left me with multiple joys as a result of stressful times. The rockies have decided to emerge on my face and I'm pretty sure some of my hair has fallen out (oh joy). Luckily, my post-exam stress is pretty much diminished and I can finally start focussing on the things that I want to be doing this summer. This great article from Thought Catalogue has inspired me to write about what everybody can do to make their breaks more enjoyable and valuable, and how to make the most out of the summer.
