The walls of my new apartment bedroom are feeling pretty bare at the moment. While I was focussing on decorating the main living room of the apartment, I completely neglected the walls of my bedroom! As a result, I've been doing much online browsing for some art and print inspiration for my room. Here are five prints that will liven up any living space!

Above was our original plan for the living room of our new apartment. Although this plan has changed dramatically, it's interesting to look back and see where our initial inspiration came from. We'll be sharing our new apartment as soon as everything is settled in and is exactly how we want it. A chevron rug may or may not be making an appearance...

I have fallen deeply in love with everything about Chicago. I need to visit again ASAP (I've been only once on a class trip). I wouldn't mind spending my time in this beautiful brick coated hotel. It would be perfect to lounge around all night and rest up before spending the day in the windy city!
But in all seriousness, can I just move there already?

duvet drama

My goodness, there are some HIDEOUS duvet covers out there. My biggest struggle this summer (in terms of prepping to furnish and decorate my apartment) has been finding ONE nice duvet cover that isn't typical of a university student. Correction*: one nice duvet cover that will fit a double mattress, since my small apartment bedroom won't fit a queen and a desk. Below are some of the options that I've found for people who might be having the same struggle.

This post goes out to the lads and lasses that fancy a bit of animal print in their lives, but aren't sure how to incorporate it into their spaces without it looking like Snooki's wardrobe. I hereby proclaim that you are ALLOWED to use leopard print patterns in decor! Just make sure that it's not overwhelming the space altogether. Other tips include:

• pairing it with fancy or more upscale shapes
• No full leopard carpet. Just no.
• Don't pair it with other really out there patterns or colours (ie. Neon + Leopard + Zebra = likely disaster)

I feel zen just looking at these images. If this were my apartment, I would love spending Sunday mornings curled up in that gorgeous bedroom and eating some delicious breakfast on the wood table white reading a great book. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to a calm and relaxing weekend.

Dominique Falla is a "tactile typographer" that creates intricate wall art using just thread and nails. This would be a great DIY but is probably MUCH more difficult than it looks! Maybe it would be fun to try with tacks on a corkboard? You can see more of Dominique's work on her blog.

Choosing to "sit" your frames is a great alternative to hanging them. It also avoids pesky holes that you will likely have to fill in or pay for when you move out. This is a great option for dorm rooms, apartments, and houses alike!

april's best DIY projects

1. Thumbtack Art Diy: add metallic shine to any room with this incredibly easy project.
2. $3 Nightstands: I like them with and without the stain, but you could really do whatever you want with these since each box was $1.
3. Rope Vases: an easy way to incorporate the neon + neutral trend into your living space.
4. Ikea Box Shelf: works for any colour palette and only requires boxes, paint and black clips! (make sure you click translate so you can read the instructions in English!)
5. Goal List: this rotating goal list would be great for studying, weekly projects, or a chore list for you and your roommates!
6. Neon Wood Magnets: (can you tell I'm loving neon this spring?) this project is quick, easy, and adds a stylish touch to any fridge.
